For absorbent finishing
Fixing agent with chlorine improver for reactive dyes
  Senkafix JOY-30
Senkafix JOY-30 is a fixing agent, mainly composed of a special aqueous cationic polymer, which causes less deterioration of light fastness and improves remarkably the wet and chlorine fastnesses of reactive-dyed materials.

Senkafix JOY-30 is a fixing agent best suited for VP processing (anti-shrinkage finish with the use of vapor phase formaldehyde) as it causes no hindrance to the water absorbency of materials and less shade alteration by fixing treatment.

CHARACTERISTICS

Appearance Yellow liquid
Component Special aqueous cationic polymer
Ionicity Cationic
pH Approx. 7.0 (1% solution)
Solubility Dissolves in any given water

SPECIAL FEATURES

  1. Senkafix JOY-30 is excellent in improving the wet fastness of reactive-dyed cellulosic fibers.
  2. Senkafix JOY-30 enhances the chlorine fastness of reactive-dyed cellulosic fibers.
  3. Senkafix JOY-30 causes less deterioration of light fastness.
  4. Senkafix JOY-30 gives no adverse effects to the water absorbency of substrates.
  5. Senkafix JOY-30 causes less yellowing of substrates during VP processing (anti-shrinkage finish with the use of vapor phase formaldehyde).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Directions for use alter according to the kind and concentration of dyes, the kind and form of substrates and processing methods, however, the general procedure is as shown below.

(a) Dipping Method

Dye concentration Amount of Senkafix JOY-30 used
Pale shades
Medium to deep shades
2-3% (o.w.f.)
3-6% ((o.w.f.)

Rinsing and drying after treatment at 40-60 for 20-30 min.

(b) Continuous Method

Padding Drying
Senkafix JOY-30
10-40 g/L

DE-FIXING PREPARATION

Reduction-oxidation process is most effective for the removal of Senkafix JOY-30.

Reduction

Hydrosulfite 3-5 g/L 90-100 x 20-30 min.
Soda ash 1-2 g/L

Oxidation

Hydrogen peroxide (35%) 3-5 cc/L 90-100 x 20-30 min.
Soda ash 1-2 g/L
EDTA-4Na 0-1 g/L
F cutter 800 2-3 g/L

  • At the risk of metal-induced trouble, such as with metal-complex dyed materials and high metallic-ion concentration, chelating agents (ex. EDTA-4Na) can be added to oxidation liquor.
  • Thorough rinsing is required after oxidation so that no hydrogen peroxide is left on the fabric. (or the removal of hydrogen peroxide should be carried out if necessary.)
  • Depending on the shade of substrates and the amount of fixing agent used, the removal of fixing agent is possible with the use of F cutter 800 in the one-bath, one-stage reduction treatment and no oxidation.

NOTE

Thorough testing is required before use.

QUANTITY

18 kg

NOTES ON HANDLING AND STORING

1) Precautions must be taken in the protection of the handler during use with appropriate gloves and spectacles.
2) In the event of direct contact with the eyes or the mouth, immediate and thorough rinsing under running water and prompt medical attention will be necessary.
3) In the event of direct contact with the skin, immediate and thorough rinsing will be necessary.
4) Thorough rinsing of the hands and the mouth after handling is required.
5) The container should be tightly fastened to prevent any foreign matter from getting into it during use.
6) To store, it should be kept out of direct sunlight and in a cool, dark place (5-35).
7) It is to be disposed of as industrial waste.

NOTICE

'Material Safety Data Sheet' is available for use.

Water absorbency test

Senkafix JOY-30

Because of their chemical constitution, many fixing agents currently in use are known to cause hindrance to the water absorbency of cotton, cotton/water-absorbent polyester blends. In addition, both wet and chlorine fastnesses are required in fixing agents. Senkafix JOY-30 is a fixing agent which improves both chlorine and wet fastnesses remarkably without degrading light fastness of the substrates that are required of water absorbency.

*Note: No difference in shade and hand caused by different fixing agents.
*In order to ensure Joy-30's effects on the improvement of wet fastness, in line with other fixing agents generally available (Senkafix 401) for deep-shade dyeing, the amount used needs to be increased.
*JOY-30 has been tested and employed for practical use in dyeing factories and favorable evaluation has been given by textile and spinning manufacturers as a fixing agent for cotton in absorbent finishing.
