Mikiriken Industrial has developed and been distributing finishing agents made with charcoal (Take-zumi, made from bamboo, and Bincho-tan, a high quality brand of charcoal) dispersed in water for use in fiber post-processing.


- Riken Resin LC-51

It consists of fine particles of Bincho-tan charcoal dispersed in water and has moisture regulating, deodorant properties. Applications for Bincho-tan, with its superior deodorant, far-infrared, minus-ion generating (plus-ion reducing) properties, are found in the fields of bed linen, wallpaper and various others.

- Riken Resin LC-103

It consists of Take-zumi charcoal powder dispersed in water and has moisture regulating, deodorant properties.

The above products have increasingly been used in the post-processing of industrial materials such as curtains, mats and carpets, non-wovens, garments, and even building materials such as tatami mats, for their deodorant, anti-bacterial and moisture-regulating effects. Other applications include deodorant sheets for use underneath tatami mats, as well as futons and pillows.
