| ① |
The core thread: employs a new filament design with special polymer, through combined polymerization techniques and spinning technology. |
| ② |
The sheath thread: controls crystallization orientation with optimum filament design, through spinning and yarn-processing technology. |
| ③ |
Core-sheath compound: unique technology to compound the core and sheath thread with an optimum balance greatly expands spaces in fiber. |
Hohenstein Institute of Germany
to hold workshop with 3 themes in September.
 |
| Dr Stefan Mecheels, Managing Director of Hohenstein Institute of Germany |
The Hohenstein Institute (Managing Director: Dr. Stefan Mecheels) will hold a workshop for examining new textile finishing technology for 2 days on September 6 and 7. At the workshop, a comprehensive overview of nanotechnology applied in the textile industry and the potential impact of its application on existing textile products, as a starting point for nanotechnology finishing, will be presented.
Their neutral consideration of integrated functions of nanotechnology will be introduced. In addition to these, new test systems for the safety of medical textiles will be presented.
Textile UV-protection has drawn increasing attentions worldwide. At the workshop, guidelines on how to enjoy the sun safely and how the UV-protective factor of textiles is determined will be explained.

Preferences for textile products in the markets along the coastal areas of China dissimilar to Japan.
It is conspicuous that overseas textile distributors are expanding their sales to China, paying attention to the markets in coastal areas of China where purchasing power is increasing. Japanese textile distributors think that there is a good prospect of exporting Japanese textile products made of fully differentiated fiber materials to China, but Japanese affiliated textile firms who have firsthand knowledge of textile preferences in the Chinese market are making a strong effort on textile materials, prices and dyeing finishing which meet Chinese preferences, incorporating the opinions of joint venture partner companies. According to figures for 2005, the best-selling materials in China which were ranked in the top 10 were cotton 100% oxford, stretch-poplin, denim, ramie/cotton mixed fabric, sucker, slub, quilt cover fabric, cotton check, corduroy and anti-static fabric.
