Mr. Hiroshi Urakawa from the Graduate School of Kyoto Institute of Technology said, "We, as a group of researchers, have revealed that adding a small amount of PVA realizes deep-dyeing for indigo dyeing." He showed the results of the experiment which indicated that the rubbing fastness could be improved as well.
