Hayashi Chemical Industry's test production of fashion jeans.
Achieving rainbow luminance with special technology.

Hayashi Chemical Industry (31, Kisshoin Ishihara Donoushiro Nishi-machi, Minami-ku, Kyoto) has been in development and trial production of fashion jeans as the key to high-fashion trends with special technology which gives the luminance of all the colors of the rainbow, at the request of concerned parties in a major jeans company.

It appears that Hayashi has developed special technology which forms special layers giving off reflections and beautifully refracting light to achieve rainbow luminance by using special glass flakes. Details have not been announced.

Konica Minolta IJ exhibits at ITMA Munich.

Konica Minolta IJ Technologies will exhibit its ink-jet printing machine at ITMA 2007 held from September 13 to 20, 2007 in Munich, Germany.

Ink-jet preprocessing machines used variety of methods.

Preprocessing is important when printing is carried out with ink-jet printing machines for textiles. Most of the preprocessing machines are premised on woven fabrics.

Firms carrying out ink-jet printing are employing a variety of methods for preprocessing such as padding, squeegeeing, rotary screen and spraying.

There is no determining method for ink-jet preprocessing for knit fabrics. Concerned parties in the industry are still seeking to establish a standard method which has not yet been found.

REACH becomes less strict than original plan.

It seems that REACH, a law on restrictions of all chemicals, which the EU has been preparing to enforce, has become less strict than its original plan. Details will be announced soon.

Growing movement towards ISO standardization
of test specimens for washing textile products.

The necessity of producing a fabric with an attached test specimen to judge mechanical influence correctly in washing of textile products and of its ISO standardization is being examined by the parties concerned.

Toray develops waterproof and breathable material with PU resin without using organic solvents.

Toray has developed a waterproof and breathable material '"ENTRANT"E', with aqueous polyurethane (PU) resin without using organic solvents in the process of adding waterproofness and moisture permeability functions to the fabric. '"ENTRANT"E' manages to realize waterproofness and moisture permeability, washing fastness and condensation prevention properties at the same level as conventional products.

Toray will start promotion for spring and summer season 2008 both domestically and internationally for applications like outdoor wear, skiing and snowboarding. Its sales goal is 250,000 m for the first year and 1,000,000 m for the third year. The retail price will be 30 % higher than conventional products.

Teijin Fibers' waterproof and breathable material using no organic solvents.
It is closed-loop recycling-oriented with 100% PES.

Teijin Fibers has developed a 100% polyester waterproof and breathable material "ECO STORM" using recycled fibers. "ECO STORM" does not use organic solvents in producing polyester films to be laminated.

Teijin Fibers will promote "ECO STORM" mainly for domestic and foreign sports apparel with high environmental consciousness and uniforms for government and other public offices requiring green procurement and environment-conscious companies. The apparel wholesaler price of "ECO STORM" is 900~1200 yen/m (broad-width) and the sales goal is 15,000 rolls for the first year, 35,000 rolls in fiscal 2008, 50,000 rolls in fiscal 2009 and 80,000 rolls in fiscal 2010. According to Teijin Fibers, it gives excellent waterproofing and breathable properties with "ECO STORM" while using recycled fibers. Since it is 100% polyester, it is possible for post-consumer products to be collected and regenerated into a new fiber with the company's closed-loop recycling system "ECO CIRCLE".

Toyobo's sportswear materials exhibition spring/summer 2008.
Introducing four new products including filament and staple composite spun yarn.

Toyobo's clothing fibers division (Iryo Fiber Jigyobu) in charge of synthetic sportswear materials held "SURE SPORTS" for spring/summer 2008 from January 23 (Tue.) to 26 (Fri.) at Toyobo head office building in Osaka under the theme "ADVANCE," and suggested various functional materials including its four new products.

A great number of functional materials were presented

New products are (1) "DOW XLA" (trademark of the Dow Chemical Company), a polyolefin elastic fiber which is impervious to external factors such as heat, acid and alkali, (2) "sports cotton," a filament and staple composite spun yarn with combined quick-drying and anti-pilling properties having 100% cotton hand, (3) "FINEFLY STRETCH" which is as light as a feather with combined stretching properties, moisture permeability, windbreak performance and UV shielding property and (4) "FINEFLASH" which is specially luster-finished "SILFINE" and "DULLFINE N Series" with lightness, strength and softness.
