China Interdye in April.
Reduced participation of Japanese companies.
It has been confirmed that the number of Japanese companies exhibiting at the 7th China Interdye held from April 17 to 19, 2007 at Intex Shanghai in Hongqiao/Shanghai and Shanghai Mart will be drastically decreased. One of the companies exhibiting is Shanghai Daxiang Chemical Industry.
Turkey's textile auxiliary companies show interest in Japanese fixing agents.
A textile auxiliary distribution company in Turkey, where dyeing is increasing, has showed an interest in Japanese fixing agents and ordered their samples from Japan.

Nano tech 2007 International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference will be held at East Exhibition Halls 4, 5, 6 & Conference Tower in Tokyo Big Sight from February 21(Wed.) to 23 (Fri.) 10:00-17:00. The exhibition jointly holds "nano tech 2007", comprehensive nanotechnology exhibition, "Nano Bio Expo 2007", exhibition uniting biotechnology and business, "nano & neo functional materials exhibition", comprehensive exhibition for highly functional materials/products and value-added technology based on materials such as paper, film sheet, metal foil, metal sheet, non-wovens and textiles and "ASTEC 2007", special exhibition for surface technology, treatment and processing.
Toray develops impact absorbing plastic.
Toray has succeeded jointly with professor Inoue's group from Yamagata University in developing the world's first impact absorbing plastic which absorbs an impact by changing shape, or deforming, like rubber when a sudden shock is applied and which normally shows characteristics as a highly functional plastic, in the "Nanostructure polymer project" sponsored by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization. It has been realized with intensified "Nano-alloy technology" which optimally alloys (blends) more than two types of plastic at the nanometer level.
Since this innovative technology makes it possible to balance competing characteristics in one plastic material, entirely new applications for the material can be expected such as for the exterior of a car which can contribute to pedestrian protection with its impact absorbing property as well as having durability and weather resistance.
In this project, they will establish the basic technology moving toward practical use by 2008, and after completion of the project, Toray will continue developing new applications with this technology for automotive materials, electrical/electronic components and sports goods with the utilized impact absorbing property.

| Expected example of use for “New Eco Magic heat resistant type” |
Kuraray Fastening has developed a high heat resistant hook and loop fastener "New Eco Magic heat resistant type," using PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) fiber, a type of superfiber characterized by high heat resistance, for both hook and loop sides, and will start its promotion from March 1, 2007.
"New Eco Magic heat resistant type", (1) is over 90% PPS fiber which makes it able to withstand temperatures up to 250 °C, (2) can maintain more than 80% of its rate of adhesion after being exposed to a high heat environment (250 °C x 24 hours), (3) has a self-extinguishing property because it is mainly PPS fiber based without any back coating agent used, and passes the inflammability test for motor vehicles (FMVSS horizontal method) and for air planes (FAR.PART25.853B) and (4) produces far less smoke at combustion compared to conventional heat-resistant products.
Kuraray Fastening will promote this "New Eco Magic heat resistant type" to a wide range of areas such as firemen's uniforms, flight uniforms, work uniforms for welding sites and blast furnaces, clothing for children and elderly people, aprons, soft furnishing like quilt covers, curtains and carpets, binding tape for car engines, binding materials in air planes and space ships, fire shutters, fastenings for household materials and appliances.
Kaneka establishes new plant for modified silicone polymer in US.
Kaneka Corporation will establish a new plant on the premises of Kaneka Texas, its subsidiary in the U.S., in order to meet drastically increasing demands for modified silicone polymer (silyl terminated polyether resin, product name: "Kaneka MS polymer"). Its production capacity will be 10,000 tons and the operation is scheduled to start from the spring of 2009. The capital investment for this new plant is about 4 billion yen. The company already has production capacity of 15,000 tons in its Takasago plant and another 15,000 tons in its European subsidiary, Kaneka Belgium, and with this new establishment in the U.S. will give the company a supply total of 40,000 tons per year.
