"The 29th IDEA TOKAI," a cooperative exhibition in Osaka by Tokai Senko, was held for two days, May 15 and 16, at Mengyo Kaikan in Chuo-ku, Osaka. In this exhibition, the company's three domestic branches presented various finishes and 15 Team J participating companies including Tsuyakin Kogyo each presented their own materials.

At the functional finish section for uniforms at IDEA TOKAI, several functional finishes were put forward including a uniform finish combined with "Nauru New" (pH controlling, deodorant, antibacterial and ultraviolet screening) and a visible light responsive photocatalytic finish.

Section of Nagoya branch

The Gifu branch of Tokai Senko presented "Marvelous sil" which displayed a top-class cotton luster for 100% cotton and cotton blended knit blouse/cut and sewn, and "Dual soft" a clear finish of luxurious cellulose.

The Nagoya branch suggested various functional finish for knit/woven garments, pajamas, under clothes and summer cotton kimono, and surface modifications like shape-memory crease finish, special hand finish and printing.

The Hamamatsu branch exhibited finishes for outer wear such as precure type morphologic stabilizing with water/oil repellent, antisoiling, antitick and easy-handling properties, heat-retention/reserve properties, cool and dry, pH control and UV protection.

Tsuyakin Kogyo, which participated as one of the members of the Team J this time, presented finished products of "anhydrous dyeing" which reduces energy costs to one fourth of these of conventional methods, decreasing industrial water usage by 99%.

Teijin Fibers' recycled polyester fiber eco bag to be sold in 266 shops
Employed as shopping bag common to department stores throughout Japan

Recycled polyester fiber eco bag “My smart shopping bag”

The eco bag made of polyester, recycled by "Eco Circle" a closed-loop recycling system for polyester fiber operated by Teijin Fibers, has been employed as "My smart shopping bag" by the Japan Department Stores Association. Through the association, 20 thousand bags priced at 500 yen (including tax) will be sold in 266 department stores throughout Japan from June 15.

"My smart shopping bag" will be collected by the office of the Japan Department Stores Association after being used and no longer wanted by the purchaser and will be transferred to the recycling plant in Teijin Fibers Matsuyama branch(Matsuyama, Ehime) to be recycled into new polyester fiber with chemical recycling technology. With the "Eco Circle" recycling system, it can be recycled repeatedly.

Toray develops plant-fiber reinforced polylactide plastic

Toray has recently developed a plant-fiber reinforced PLA plastic which has heat resistance, stiffness and moldability improved by kneading together polylactic acid (PLA) and cellulose-based plant fiber. It has 150°C heat resistance which is the highest level in the world for biomass-plastic, double stiffness and a drastic shortening of molding time compared to conventional PLA plastic, and moreover, it can produce an excellently formed appearance even with plant fiber combined, introducing a drastic improvement in physical properties of biomass-plastic. Toray will promote this technology for a wide range of applications such as automobile parts, electrical/electronic components, civil engineering/building materials and furniture.
