Dainippon Ink and Chemicals enhances production capacity of water based pigment jet ink

Dainippon Ink and Chemicals will enhance its production capacity of mater-based pigment jet ink. The company is planning to renovate part of its Saitama plant production base (Inamachi, Kitaadachi-gun, Saitama) and turn it into a facility exclusively for dispersion and ink manufacturing, which is scheduled to be completed in June and start operation from August next year. This will expand its annual production capacity to 4000 tons combined with the existing 1,500 tons.

The company has been doing research into pigment dispersion for ink-jet printers and developed an ink to install in printers for professional photographers and wide format printers for industrial use. It started full-scale distribution last year. The company is expecting demand to reach about 4,000 tons and further equipment investment is possible depending on the volume of shipment. Through this enhancement, the company is expecting sales of about 7 billion yen by 2010.
