Kurabo develops new type rayon "LUNACEL" with characteristics of both vegetable and animal fibers

Deep color "LUNACEL" suitable for black formal wear
Kurabo (H.O.: Osaka, President: Mr. Akihiro Inoue) has developed its first filament yarn "LUNACEL" crosslinking cellulose and protein, and will enter the filament business.

"LUNACEL" is indicated as rayon on labels, but is a new type of rayon completely linking cotton linter pulp-based cellulose and water soluble food protein with characteristics of both vegetable and animal fibers.

Owing to those characteristics, "LUNACEL" has deep color, a silky-looking luster, a voluminous feel, drape properties, odor eliminating properties against ammonia, formaldehyde and trimethylamine and UV protection properties which cannot be seen in conventional cellulose materials, and will be promoted mainly as a combined weave with other materials, targeting black formal wear and ladies' wear.

Kurabo's group company, BONDREAM (H.O: Osaka, President: Mr. Motoaki Muro) will be in charge of distribution and start the sales of yarn from December. It is planning the sales of textiles in the future as well. It will entrust production to the Chinese rayon maker, Xinxiang Chemical Fiber (Henan), starting from 2 to 5 tons per month. The price will be about 2,000 yen/kg for 75 denier and about 1,500 yen/kg for 120 denier.
