Glen Raven and Kermel jointly develop new material for protective apparel

Glen Raven, a functional fabric maker of the US, and Kermel, a polyimide fiber manufacture of France, have jointly developed and started sales of "GlenGuard FR," a flame resistant fabric for the industrial protective apparel market.

Both companies spent more than two years on development of "GlenGuard FR" with Kermel's unique fiber construction and Glen Raven's fabric design expertise combined to realize better dyeability and abrasion resistance, to add flexibility and durability and to reduce weight, while maintaining higher safety standards.

"GlenGuard FR" meets the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NEPA 70E) of the National Fire Protection Association which is the strictest heat-safe/flame-proof safety standard, and offers the best protection-to-weight ratio available for single layer garments.

"Glen Guard FR" is being marketed to protective apparel makers serving the electric industry, chemical industry, engineering firms and automotive racing where employees are directly exposed to heat, flames, chemicals, electricity and hazardous materials.
