ADEKA to expand production of condensed phosphate flame retardant in its Chinese subsidiary

ADEKA (H.O.: Arakawa, Tokyo, President: Mr. Hiroyuki Nakajima) will double the production capacity of condensed phosphate flame retardant in its China-based affiliate "Adeka Fine Chemical (Changshu) Co., Ltd.(Changshu, Jiangsu)" from the current 10,000 tons to 20,000 tons, to respond to the global demand expansion for environment-responsive flame retardant. The construction for the expansion is due for completion in April, 2009 and the amount of investment is about 1.5 billion yen.

The company will officially enter the flame retardant industry after establishing a mass production facility for condensed phosphate flame retardant in its Kashima factory(Ibaragi) in spring 2008, and the total condensed phosphate flame retardant production capacity of the ADEKA group will be 33,000 tons per year, with the ADEKA Kashima factory (7,000 tons), Chang Chun Chemical(Taiwan/Xinzhu)(6,000tons), current capacity of Adeka Fine Chemical (Changshu) (10,000 tons) and this time's expansion (10,000 tons).
