Formosa Chemicals & Fiber Corporation of the Taiwan Plastics Group will expand its synthetic textile business in Vietnam. This additional investment (10 billion Taiwan dollars, approximately 309 million US dollars) will be spent for adding a new nylon fiber production facility, which is expected to start operation during 2009. With this investment, the company expects Taiwanese downstream enterprises to enter Vietnam and to form a cluster on the same site.

In the Taiwan Plastics Group, Nan Ya Plastics has been manufacturing polyester F/S near Ho Chi Minh City and Formosa Taffeta has been manufacturing synthetic textile in an adjoining factory.
