The number of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificates issued has been increasing in North and South America. According to the International Oeko-Tex Association, the number of certificates issued in 2006 in North and South America rose by 41% over the previous year. In 2008, the International Oeko-Tex Association will have a framework to cover the test of the Restricted Substances List (RSL) established by the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA).
