India's chemical manufacturer, GHCL, to spin off home textile business

GHCL, an Indian chemical manufacturer, will spin off the home textiles manufacturing and sales division to a 100%-owned subsidiary as one element of a restructuring effort. Under the plan, GHCL will devote itself only to the soda ash business. With GHCL's acquistion of Dan River, a home textile manufacturer in the US, in 2005, and Roseby's, a home textile distributor in the UK, in July 2006, 64% of the sales of GHCL are currently from the home textile business and 33% from soda ash business.

GHCL will be prepared to deal with changes in the market flexibly through focusing on individual divisions to enhance their independencies.
