The International Wool Textile Organization (abbr. IWTO, H.O.: Brussels -
Belgium), the international body representing the world's major wool producing
countries, held an annual meeting for fiscal 2008 at KUNLUN HOTEL in Beijing,
China, from April 13 to 16. According to the apparel wool production figures
presented at the meeting, in Australia, it will decrease to 275,000 tons this
season (2007/8) from 288,000 tons the previous season (2006/7), but will remain
at the same level next season (2009/9). In Argentina, the output has been decreasing,
it was 39,000 tons in the previous season and 38,000 tons this season, and will continue
the pattern next season with 35,000 tons. South Africa maintains an output of
28,000 tons in all three seasons, and that of Uruguay was 29,000 tons in the previous
season and 26,000 tons this season, and is expected to be 25,000 tons next season.
