DuPont to acquire Cardinal Health Industrial Apparel Business

To support its growth strategy in the Safety and Protection division, DuPont is planning to purchase the industrial apparel business of Cardinal Health, the biggest medical enterprise in the US. The plan includes the transfer of the existing inventory and intellectual property related to industrial garments including the "Micro- Clean" brand, and it is expected to expand the company's offering for special apparel used in life sciences and electronics manufacturing sites. Cardinal Health will retain its hospital apparel product line along with its industrial gloves offering, which are exempt from the agreement.

It is estimated that the size of the market for the textile products for the life sciences industry such as garments, wipes and disinfectants is approximately $1 billion, and the demand for garments (including disposable ones) alone is $280 million globally.
