Qingdao University of China to produce seaweed fiber from alginate

According to Qingdao University in Shandong, the State Key Laboratory for New Fiber Materials and Modern Textiles of the university has succeeded in producing clothes with seaweed fiber, and is now preparing for commercialization. According to the university, this seaweed fiber is an alginate-based organic bond obtained from kelp, and clothes made of this fiber are environment-friendly and have characteristics such as flame resistance, biodegradability and recyclability.
