According to VDMA Textile Machinery Association, export of German textile machinery in 2007 was 3.9 billion euros, up by 7.2% from the previous year. The export of spinning machinery increased by 20% to an export value of 1.6 billion euros, and that of weaving machinery reached 351 million euros, up by 1.4%, and that of knitting machines covered 1.2 billion euros, up by 1.3%, and that of finishing machinery (washing, bleaching and dyeing) declined by 3.2% to 684 million euros.

The exports went to Asia with a share worth 1.85 billion euros, and of that 1 billion euros was sold to China. The second strongest was Turkey with an export value of 408 million euros, up by 72% from the previous year. For India, it decreased by 18.3% to 301 million euros.
