European Parliament suggests separate textile recycling collections |
|
The European Parliament is suggesting a separate collection for recycling textile waste. In second reading amendments tabled on April 10 to a proposed European Union waste directive, the parliament's environment committee said that EU member states should establish textile collection systems by 2015. The parliament shares a veto over the directive's final text with EU ministers. In the EU, separate collections have been carried out to promote recycling of paper, metal, plastic, glass and biodegradable wastes.
