Unitika Fibers to produce non-halogen flame-retardant fiber from Trevira of Germany

Unitika Fibers has started the production of "Trevira CS," a flame-retardant polyester fiber, using technology from Germany's Trevira (Bobingen). By combining phosphorus into polyester molecules in resin form before spinning, the fiber "Trevira CS" itself carries a flame retardant property. Its special feature, as a flam retarding agent, is that it does not contain harmful substances like halogen.

As a halogen-free material responding to environmental regulations, it will be promoted for products such as curtains in the interior decorating market.
