China to regulate production, purchase and transport of 257 chemical products

Because of the impact of China's temporary measures designed to ensure strict security during the Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics, the confusion in the price of Japanese chemical products has accelerated.
Beijing City has banned the production and distribution of 257 chemical products including firecrackers, organic peroxide, toxic elements, radioactive materials, hydrogen peroxide, acetone, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and ammonium nitrate from May 1 to October 17 except for products from chemical manufacturers granted exceptional permission by Beijing Chemical Reagents Company and Beijing Administration of Work Safety.
Even the chemical manufacturers granted exceptional permission need written permission when producing, distributing and transporting chemical products which fall into the categories. It enforces a permit system for buying and transporting on the purchasing side as well.

During the Beijing Olympics games will be held as six venues outside Beijing, which are Qingdao, Tianjin, Shenyang, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Shanghai was the first to announce the implementation of regulations on purchase and transportation of dangerous articles for safety reasons from July 1 to August 22.

During this period, the examination of transportation applications for hazardous materials that go to and through Beijing and other venues will be suspended. Transportation inside Shanghai City requires the permission of the public security department. With this regulation, shipping agents will suspend the order, intake and cargo handling operations of chemical products falling into the categories from mid-July to the end of August.

The following ports are decided as inward and outward ports of materials for the Beijing Olympic Games, they are Beijing Capital International airport, Qingdao Liuting International airport, Tianjin Binhai International airport, Shanghai Pudong International airport and Shenyang Taoxian International airport for airports, and Shanghai Port, Tianjin Port, Qingdao Port, Dalian Port and Qinhuangdao Port for shipping ports and Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou for land ports. Therefore, it is expected that ports other than Shanghai will tighten up on dealing with hazardous materials.
