Transport regulations on chemical substances in China's coastal areas to have negative influence on Japan

The adoption by Beijing of transport regulations and an approval system for manufacturing and purchasing 257 chemical substances before, during and after the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics( from May 1 to October 17, 2008) has had a negative influence on the Japanese chemical industry.

It has become harder to transport chemical substances to the chemical factories of their subsidiaries in China, and conversely to obtain supplies of chemicals from those factories.

In Shanghai, during the period from May 19 to October 20, they have stricter manufacturing authorization for 125 chemical products including phenol, m-aminobenzene, m-nitroaniline, hydrogen peroxide (water solution) and 7 kinds of phospides. The transportation of those items is getting tighter as well. Therefore, the price rise negotiation for various chemical products for Japan has intensified.
