1. Printing methods with pile materials
The following are practical finishing methods for screen printing:
1-1. Blankets of cut pile cotton
For screen printing with reactive dyestuffs, a stock paste will be prepared adding Primogum F-30 as an emulsion paste to sodium alginate. Primogum F-30 increases its viscosity with water and easily
becomes an O/W emulsion. Turpen emulsion paste separates easily after letting it sit at low viscosity for a long time, however, color paste mixed with Primogum F-30 is stable in its viscosity. In the
case of adding mineral turpen in order to increase drying speed, emulsifier is not necessary. The thickening component of Primogum F-30 decreases the amount of sodium alginate used and the emulsified
component improves paste removing properties. For materials with a long pile, a timely addition of Senkasalt KSconc (penetrating agent for printing: Senka) to color paste is recommended. The treatments
shown in Table 2 can be applied in the case of cut pile cotton towels.
