Maya Trading has developed and started sales of a pretreatment agent to improve
the concentration of ink-jet printing using reactive dye ink. The name of the
agent is COUPLER C-70(special agent).
COUPLER C-70 can improve color yield of reactive dyes used on cotton or rayon.
COUPLER C-70 can improve dye fixation ratio in dyeing and printing.
For printing cotton and rayon, sodium alginate is mainly used, and high substitution
rate CMC is often combined with it to control permeability.It generally tends
to degrade the performance of thickener removal.
COUPLER C-70 improves printability and the performance of thickener removal.

【Performance test】
- It improves color yield of cotton and rayon printing.
- It has no effect on viscosity of thickeners.
- It consists primarily of surfactant but can finish without bleeding.
- It promotes the effect of thickener removal at soaping and rinsing.

To show the improvement in concentration, two images, one pretreated only
with sodium alginate (image 1) and the other pretreated with sodium alginate
with the special agent COUPLER C-70 added (image 2) are compared for color concentration
below. As shown in the images below, the color concentration of reactive dye
ink is significantly improved in the one pretreated with sodium alginate with
the special agent COUPLER C-70 added compared to the other one pretreated only
with sodium alginate.

The price of sodium alginate has been rising recently. Therefore, if the usage
of sodium alginate needs to be decreased, combined sodium alginate and CMC's
ARCOTT-C1000 in a ratio of 7 to 3 with the special agent COUPLER C-70 added can
be used as a pretreatment agent for ink-jet printing, and it is still effective
in improving the color concentration.
The images below show a comparison in the color concentration of reactive
dye ink when the specimen is pretreated with sodium alginate + ARCOTT-C1000(7:3)(Image
3) and when pretreated with sodium alginate+ ARCOTT-C1000(7:3)+ COUPLER C-70
added(Image 4). The color concentration shown in the one pretreated with sodium
alginate+ ARCOTT-C1000 (7:3) + COUPLER C-70 is obviously deeper than the other.
