Car seat finishing auxiliaries of Takamatsu Oil & Fat
Capable of adding various functions essential for car seats
For car seat materials, vinyl chloride sheet was used as the
main material initially, but since around 1980, synthetic fiber
has started to be used in terms of its aesthetic aspect, refined
look and comfort.
At the beginning, moquette style and woven fabric was used with
polyamide fiber as the main material, which was gradually relegated
to polyester knit because of the big degradation of light fastness
and in terms of morphologic stabilization, and now polyester
knit (warp-knitted and circular-knitted) is the mainstream of
surfacematerials for car seats.
Essential functions for surface material include not only the
aesthetic aspect, but (1) seat comfort (flexibility/smoothness/volume),
(2) antistatic property, (3) abrasion resistance (4) anti-snagging
of loop-raised surface material, (5) sewing efficiency(property
to prevent breakage of foundation yarn), (6) dust antiadhesive
property, (7) light-fastness, (8) flame resisting property, (9)
antifouling property and (10) antibacterial/deodorant property
as functionalities which can be added with finishing auxiliaries.
Takamatsu Oil & Fat focused attention on polyester fiber
being the main material and developed polyester resin-based finishing
auxiliaries, the company’s key technology, for surface
materials for car seats that have been well received by major
Japanese processing manufacturers.
Recommended polyester resin-based functional finishing
auxiliaries are introduced below for some essential functions
required for car seats.
