Durable hydrophilic SR agent "Softener SR" (for polyester)
Introduction
| * |
Softener SR produces durable hydrophilic SR properties
in naturally hydrophobic fiber such as polyester knits,
weaves, yarns and nonwovens. |
| * |
Softener SR is suitable for use in sportswear and general
garments requiring good perspiration absorbency, in easily-soiled
work clothes and table cloths, flame-resistant curtains,
and dish cloths and towels requiring water absorbency. |
| * |
SR is an abbreviation of 'Soil Release'.
This SR effect is divided into SRM and SRD. |
| SR |
SRM (Soil Removal) |
Removal of dust and water/oil-based soiling during
washing |
| SRD (Soil Redeposit) |
Prevention of soil redeposition during washing |

Features
| * |
Softener SR imparts wash-fast water/perspiration absorbency
to normally hydrophobic polyester. |
| * |
Softener SR imparts durable SR properties (SRM and
SRD) to polyester. |
| * |
Softener SR finishes polyester with a soft hand. |
| * |
Softener SR can be used simultaneously in the disperse
dyeing of polyester. |
| * |
With Softener SR, causing hindrance to flame-resistant
properties is unlikely. |

2) Padding method

Since padding may result in reduced colorfastness,
preliminary testing is required before use. |

Directions for use
- Since cationic softeners, amino silicon softeners, fluorine/wax-based
water-repellents, cationic fixing agents and cationic antistatic
agents have a tendency to cause hindrance to water absorbency,
preliminary testing is required for selecting the kind least
likely to do so.
- Preliminary testing is required to verify the tarring properties
of the disperse dyestuff used when adding Softener SR in
the dyebath. (The use of our disperse leveling agent New
Levelin RD-10 is recommended.)
- Avoid the use of caustic soda in reduction clearing after
in-dyebath treatment of Softener SR. (Performance deteriorates
due to hydrolysis of the ester bonding within Softener SR.)
- In order to prevent the yellowing of white (fluorescent)
or very pale substrates due to nitrogen oxides, it is recommended
that reduction clearing and any final finishing be conducted
under acidic conditions (and the use of malic acid).
- Preliminary testing is required before using Softener SR
to verify colorfastness and other factors relating to compatibility.
