New type hotmelt laminator

In this new type hotmelt laminator, hotmelt adhesive is first spread onto a base material in the gravure coating unit, then lamination is carried out.

Arimoto Kigyo Co., Ltd. (1 Shimogawara, Kamitoba Tonomori, Minami-ku, Kyoto) has developed a new type hotmelt laminator and delivered it to a major Taiwanese coating plant. The special feature of the machine is that lamination of moisture-permeable film is possible without the use of release paper and that it has a special device that allows automatic control over the winding of laminated fabric.

Accurate lamination made possible at 20 and 25m/min.

    Prior to delivering its new hotmelt laminator to a Taiwanese firm, Arimoto Kigyo conducted a test run, a direct lamination of fine moisture-permeable film (13 and 16 microns thin) onto an ultrafine knit fabric, with the client engineer attending.

    Using a 1,500mm-wide fabric and polyurethane or Teflon-based films, the testing proceeded under the following conditions.

    A special gravure roll was used for lamination tests carried out at three different speeds, 15, 20 and 25m per minute. Since no trouble was found in any of the laminated results, approval was given by the engineer from Taiwan.

    As the replacement for the coating/laminating machine (a competitor's product) currently in use at the Taiwanese firm's plant which works at a limited speed of maximum 15m per minute and with the use of release paper, Arimoto's newly-developed machine will make possible lamination at a constant speed of 20m per minute, requiring no release paper and feeding the moisture-permeable film directly.

    Arimoto Kigyo, having unflaggingly sought advice from prominent Japanese experts on coating/lamination technologies in developing this hotmelt laminator, has now put forward a policy of providing its clients with complaisant after-sales services.

    The following are specific features of the machine functions;

    1. A gravure roll has been adopted to accurately carry out the coating of fine moisture-permeable film using an extremely small amount of material.
    2. With a direct drive in the (fabric/film) feeding unit and a special air dancer control device, fine film can be inserted into the lamination unit under low tension, requiring no release paper.
    3. Needless to say, it is also equipped with a release paper winding device.
    4. Heating of the gravure roll and the doctor blade is based on an oil heating method that uses a small amount of electricity (8kw).
    5. An ultrasonic sensor with control over the ends and edges of fabric and film ensures compatibility with transparent film and nonwovens.
    6. Voluntary winding of laminated fabric has been made possible through the use of a control unit made by a specialist manufacturer and by adopting a direct airshaft rolling method in the control of the dancer based on electropneumatic converting.
    7. The gravure doctor blade has a rubbing device
    8. Quick and easy replacement has been made possible for the gravure roll.
    9. A vector inverter has been adopted to ensure interconnected control.
