TEIJIN FIBERS LIMITED has developed innovative self-regulatory functional fiber, “MRT fiber (tentative name)” for “NIKE SPHERE REACT DRY,” a sportswear from NIKE Inc. It is a nonconventional next- generation fiber. TEIJIN FIBERS LIMITED has entered into licensing agreements with NIKE Inc. and will provide this material for “NIKE SPHERE REACT” exclusively in the world.

1. “NIKE SPHERE REACT DRY”

“NIKE SPHERE REACT DRY” is an innovative sportswear that conforms to the environment and transforms itself. When it is dry, it provides a snug fit to athletes with its flat structure of material using microfibers. On the other hand, it creates a three-dimensional structure (magnitude of change varies depending on the product), which becomes twice as thick as when it is dry, on the skin-side surface of the garment to reduce surface tackiness when “MRT fiber” comes into contact with sweat once athletes start exercising. This three-dimensional structure makes some space between the skin and the garment, which increases airflow to make the garment dry quickly. When the perspiration has evaporated after exercising, its surface changes back to flat and provides a snug fit again.

“NIKE SPHERE REACT DRY” can reduce surface tackiness from sweat to half compared to existing polyester products.

2. “NIKE SPHERE REACT COOL”

“NIKE SPHERE REACT COOL” is a material, which can synchronize athletes’ breathing. As athletes start exercising and sweating, “MRT fiber,” used as a material, opens up after coming into contact with sweat, allowing about twice the air to circulate than when it is dry (magnitude of change varies depending on the product). Because this change manages to lower the temperature and degree of humidity inside the garment, athletes can continue exercising comfortably without feeling an unpleasant humidity. When the perspiration has evaporated after exercising, the fabric closes up again.
